Surgery incident

Unfortunately, on the weekend of the 15th/16th May we experienced another 'accident' in relation to one of the patients. On this occasion it was one of a pair of lightbulb artworks that had been donated by Patrick Letschka of Brighton University, (created by Hans Stofer of the RCA). As can be seen from the accompanying photographs, the bulb was smashed into exactly 103 pieces - staff at the surgery painstakingly collected all of these subsequent to the incident. The good news is that Dr. Gilhooly had already had the opportunity to examine the artefact, declaring it to be in robust health; because of this we can be certain that the healing process - following careful reconstruction - will be 100% successful, and the artwork will be returned intact to its donor at the end of the period deemed necessary for full recovery (about a week). A full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident, will be carried out by surgery staff and, if necessary, by an independent 'watchdog' committee.

  1. my beloved work of art - brought down to such a low state. It breaks my heart to see it in such pain.

103 pieces must have a meaning.

wooah..... wooah is me. I will be on tenterhooks until I'm allowed a visit.
