Given the increasing numbers of academically qualified artists, some educated even to PhD level - there now exist Doctors of Art - an Art Surgery based on the idea of a Medical Doctor's Surgery, treating paintings and artefacts as patients, has become a real possibility. The first significant initiative of this type which took place in May 2010 is documented below. 'Open Art Surgery' © The Doomsbury Set (Mocksim and Huw Bartlett) here with Dr. Jonathan Gilhooly, All Rights Reserved.
Thanks Dave
ReplyDeleteTo clarify we see this as very serious (as opposed to purely comedic). Dr. Gilhooly, for example, has worked for many years to attain the insights, skills and status he now possesses.
I'm afraid we are less interested in you than in the piece(s). We treat the work, not the owner. I suggest that you make an appointment for yourself with a doctor of medicine, someone qualified to deal with human beings. They should be able to help you with your concerns. As it happens there is a medical doctor called Doctor Gilhooly at Pavilion Surgery but I'm not sure if therapy, psychology, the talking cure is his thing.
Best for now. We look forward to receiving real patients from your collection.

Thanks Micheal. Can I play the cliched artist and complain that my work has been misunderstood? I think the whole thing is very funny. Will submit something more when I get myself sorted...
Dave.
